Please Note: All EBC brake pads are priced and sold in AXLE SETS. Almost always, this means 4 pads per set. However, for a very limited number of vehicles where 8 or even 12 pads are required per axle, such as Audi RS and Corvette models, rest assured each set will contain the correct quantity of pads to replace ALL pads on that axle.

EBC Brakes Racing RP-X is a high torque compound targeted at sprint race and trackday use. Its higher bite provides a more immediate response characteristic, meaning RP-X feels similar to typical track pads from other manufacturers. RP-X achieves 100% brake effect from cold, making it popular for use in Time Attack, Rallycross, and Hillclimb events where no warm-up is possible.

All RP-X pads feature stainless-steel backing plates to reduce brake caliper and fluid temperatures. It also boasts excellent pad life when used at higher duty levels, making RP-X a durable and dependable motorsport compound capable of consistent performance in extreme operating environments. However, the high-torque nature of RP-X means it is aggressive on brake rotors (but no more so than many other race pads on the market).

RP-X does not carry ECE R90 approval as it is not targeted at road use. However, in markets such as Australia where R90 is not a legal requirement, RP-X can be safely driven on the road due to it possessing full brake effect from cold, although moderate dust and brake noise should be expected.

TIP: Customers often compare RP-X with its sister compound RP-1. RP-X possesses a 20% higher friction coefficient than RP-1, which is matched by a 20-30% improvement in pad life at high duty levels. However, at low-to-medium duty levels, RP-1 exhibits better pad life and significantly better rotor life. Finally, since RP-X offers full brake effect from cold, this makes it more suitable than RP-1 for certain motorsport events where no warm-up is possible. Overall, the deciding factor should be on whether you desire a medium bite or high bite material; if you prefer a higher friction pad, then RP-X is the preferred choice.
