EBC’s range of ‘D’ non-grooved brake rotors are premium replacement rotors with equivalent or better performance to the OE brake rotors your vehicle came fitted with from the factory. Despite matching or beating the performance and quality of OE parts, EBC’s plain rotor range often represents a massive saving over original equipment parts, sometimes costing just half the price of the OE rotor. EBC’s ‘D’ brake rotors provide quiet braking and are perfect for customers who want to retain an OE look and don’t desire the increased bite and fade resistance offered by a grooved brake rotor.
The outstanding quality of EBC brake rotors is evidenced by the fact EBC Brakes is one of the first and only aftermarket rotor manufacturers globally that has both TUV and R90 approvals on their brake rotor range. This is in stark contrast to some other brake rotors available on the market originating from the far-East, which often aren’t approved to TUV, R90 or indeed any other internationally recognised quality standard. EBC’s commitment to product testing means EBC brake rotors are fully compliant with ADRs and thus legal for use on public roads in Australia.
Unlike some other rotor manufacturers, EBC sees no benefit in offering a ‘lower-performance’ or ‘low-carbon’ brake rotor range, since the use of poorer metallurgy can decrease rotor life and performance yet shaves mere cents off the manufacturing cost. Instead, EBC chooses to manufacture all of its 1-piece brake rotors from the same high-carbon high-quality G3000 rotor alloy, boasting excellent thermal capacity and high resistance to both warping & cracking. Quite simply, the only difference between EBC’s non-grooved and grooved brake rotor ranges is…. the grooves…. the same excellent metallurgy is used throughout EBC’s 1pc rotor ranges.
Every EBC rotor is machined using a ‘twin-turning’ process which guarantees near-perfect parallelism. This process reduces the likelihood that Rotor Thickness Variation (RTV) could manifest on the vehicle, which could otherwise create brake judder. Machined rotors are then run-out tested to ensure they meet EBC’s strict tolerances. Finally, every finished rotor is first Geomet® coated to protect all surfaces from corrosion, then rotors are additionally sprayed with an advanced anti-corrosion black coating to further protect visible non-contact areas from unsightly rust for an extended period after installation. This double-finishing process gives EBC brake rotors maximum protection from corrosion.
NOTE: For high-performance or track driving, consider a grooved brake rotor where the grooved braking surface will increase ‘bite’ during brake application and help to vent gasses that can otherwise lead to premature brake fade.
